Trash in Common Areas

Yard Trash is showing up in the Common Areas of the neighborhood.  We want to remind you that these areas are not to be used for your trash.  Yard trash needs to be on your property for pickup by the city – not the associations.  Do not use the park, or any other common areas for your personal dumping areas.  We appreciate your cooperation now that spring has arrived and want to ask anyone who sees a neighbor doing this to report it at the association’s phone number 309-2213.

City/County Telephone Numbers

For your information, the following are phone numbers that are important to refer to.  Many complaints from homeowners to the Board are actually issues that must be addressed by animal control, the police or county code enforcement.

1.     High noise levels – the City Police is 891-4200

2.     More than 3 unrelated people in a residence – the Growth Mgmt. Department is 891-7052

3.     Parking that blocks driveways or the flow of traffic – City Police

4.     Parking on Cul-de-sacs will result in towing by the BHOA.

5.     Pets must be treated humanely and kept leashed or enclosed.  Constant barking is illegal and excrement must be bagged.  Call 891-2950 for animal control.

6.     Outdoor garbage.  Badly overgrown yards and dilapidated homes should be reported to 891-6500 which is code enforcement.

No signs are to be put on the entrance islands.

These will be THROWN AWAY when found.   Signs in front of homes are limited to realty signs only.  If you are selling your house, tell the agent not to use the islands. Also, per the Buckwood Restrictive Covenants, political signs are not allowed to be placed on one's property. The only signs that may be exhibited are "for sale" or "for rent" signs.

Hurricane Season is here

The City offers a free service to assess what a homeowner can do to take precautions against flooding.  The city and county also provide sand and bags for you to make sandbags if necessary.  Always keep the ditches and swales free of built up dirt and debris so that there is a unimpeded flow.

Always Pickup Your Pets Waste

Please, please begin doing this in our neighborhood if you already are not doing so.  If you are aware of anyone leaving their pet’s waste in people’s yards or the common areas, let the BHOA board know by calling 309-2213 and reporting it with a name and address of the individual if possible, or a description of the person and their animal and we will see if anyone knows them.  They will receive code violation letters.   This is dangerous and pet waste carries bacteria and parasites that is dangerous for our children.

Friday is Trash Day – Pat Stanley

Trash is collected only once a week and on Thursday night every house has its trash containers out ready for the morning. However, I’ve noticed that at some houses, the trash container is back out on Saturday or Sunday, often filled to overflowing. It sits there for the next six or seven days. It would do a lot for the eye (and nose) appeal of the neighborhood if that container could remains at the back or even the side of the house until Thursday night. Also, it is against the bylaws of the BHOA for garbage cans to sit in the front of houses longer than required for the garbage to be picked. So, do your part.
